ในปี 2552 ได้กำหนดจัดงาน Thailand Rice Convention 2009 ระหว่างวันที่ 13-14 กรกฎาคม 2552 โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแสดงศักยภาพในด้านการผลิต และการส่งออกข้าวของไทยที่มีความน่าเชื่อถือ และมีความมั่นคงในด้านปริมาณ และราคา รวมทั้งเพื่อเผยแพร่ความหลากหลายของข้าวไทย และเป็นโอกาสที่จะได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูล ความคิดเห็นกับผู้ที่อยู่ในวงการค้าข้าวจากทั่วโลก ทำให้ได้รับทราบทิศทาง/แนวโน้มตลาดการค้าข้าว ตลอดจนเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างหน่วยงานภาครัฐ องค์กรระหว่างประเทศด้านข้าว ผู้ค้าข้าว และองค์กรภาคเอกชนต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องในเรื่องข้าว ผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมประกอบด้วยผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐ ผู้นำเข้าและผู้ประกอบการค้าข้าว รวมทั้งนักวิชาการ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ/ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและสื่อมวลชนทั้งในและต่างประเทศประมาณ 500 คน โดยมีกิจกรรมประกอบด้วย 1.การประชุมสัมมนาเชิงวิชาการ โดยมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญและนักวิชาการต่างๆ ร่วมอภิปรายและให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์การผลิต เสถียรภาพและราคาข้าวโลก ปัจจัยที่มีผลกระทบต่อการค้าข้าวโลก รวมข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับโลจิสติกส์ของสินค้าข้าวรวมทั้งลู่ทาง/แนวโน้มความต้องการข้าวในภูมิภาคต่างๆ 2.การจัดนิทรรศการ แสดงความหลากหลายของข้าวไทยและผลิตภัณฑ์ การจัดแสดงตัวอย่างข้าวชนิดต่าง ๆ โดยเน้นคุณลักษณะพิเศษและความโดดเด่นรวมทั้งประโยชน์ของข้าวไทย เช่น ข้าวหอมมะลิไทย ข้าวหอมมะลิอินทรีย์ ข้าวที่ได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนสิ่งบ่งชี้ทางภูมิศาสตร์ (GI) ข้าวกล้องงอก (GABA RICE) เป็นต้น การตรวจสอบคุณภาพและมาตรฐานการส่งออกข้าว การจำหน่ายข้าวและผลิตภัณฑ์ข้าวไทย 3.การศึกษาดูงาน ณ หมู่บ้านอนุรักษ์ควายไทย เพื่อให้ผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมได้สัมผัสกับวิถีชีวิตแบบดั้งเดิมของชาวนาไทย ที่มา กรมการค้าต่างประเทศ กระทรวงพาณิชย์ มีนาคม 2552 THAILAND RICE CONVENTION 2009 The Thailand Rice Convention 2009 is scheduled to take place on 13-14 July 2009 at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Halls in Bangkok. This year's conference seeks to demonstrate why Thailand's continuing capability and potential for production and trade has enabled it to sustain the position as the main supplier of quality rice which possesses a high degree of reliability in terms of price and supply stabilities. Furthermore, the conference aims to give a clearer picture of Thailand as having a wide variety of rice it has on offer, and also to provide a forum for discussions and sharing of views and information among those who are involved in the world rice community. This in turn will not only serve as a platform for better understanding the direction and trend that the world's rice trade is taking, but also help to solidify the good relationships between world rice producers and buyers and also other stakeholders, be they public and private sector organizations or international rice institutes. The conference hopes to attract more than 500 participants, comprising delegates and business people, academicians, specialists and the news media from various national and international organizations around the world - representing the right mix of target attendees in the rice trade. The conference will feature three main activities as follows: 1. International academic conference. Invited specialists and academicians will engage in discussions sharing their insightful views on the current trends in the world's rice production and trade, encompassing world rice prices and stability, factors influencing the global rice trade, and information on the logistics involved with rice trade as well as the prospects for or trends in global demands. In conjunction with the deliberations, there will be the presentation of certificates to selected prominent importers of Thai rice. 2. Mini exhibition. The mini exhibition highlights the varieties of Thai rice and related products, a display of rice specimens featuring the main attributes and numerous uses of various types of rice, including Hom Mali Rice, organic Hom Mali, rice accorded the status of registered Geographical Indication (GI), and GABA Rice. Also on display will be a demonstration on rice quality inspection and standard supervision for export, and rice and rice products for sale. 3. Study Visit to the Thai Buffalo Conservation Village. The day trip will provide rare opportunities for learning first-hand about the traditional way of life of Thai farmers in Suphanburi Province. "ไทยในฐานะเป็นผู้นำด้านการค้าข้าวและส่งออกข้าวเป็นอันดับ 1 ของโลก ต้องใช้โอกาสในงานไทยแลนด์ไรซ์นี้แสดงให้คนในวงการค้าข้าวมั่นใจว่าไทยมีความพร้อมในด้านการผลิตและการค้าข้าว และมีความพร้อมที่จะช่วยสนับสนุนและแก้ไข ปัญหาหากจะเกิดวิกฤตในด้านอาหารเกิดขึ้นอีก ส่วนในภาพรวมการส่งออกปีนี้คาดว่าไทยจะสามารถส่งออกข้าวได้ตามเป้าหมาย 8.5-9 ล้านตัน โดยในเดือนสองเดือนแรกส่งออกได้ 2.07 ล้านตัน ลดลงจากปีก่อน 38% เพราะปีก่อนเป็นปีที่มีความผิดปกติ หลายตลาดนำเข้าข้าวเพื่อไปสต๊อกไว้ป้องกันการขาดแคลนอาหาร ดังนั้นการส่งออกที่ลดลงจึงไม่ได้ถือว่าผิดปกติ" นางอภิรดีกล่าว รายงานข่าวจากกรมการค้าต่างประเทศกล่าวว่า กลยุทธ์การส่งออกข้าวปี 2552 ของกรมได้กำหนดเป้าหมายการส่งออกไว้ที่ 8.5-9.6 ล้านตัน มูลค่า 4.5-5 พันล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ หรือราคาเฉลี่ยประมาณ 530 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐต่อตัน โดยคาดการณ์ตลาดส่งออกปี 2552 ไว้ดังนี้ 1) แอฟริกา นำเข้าข้าวไทย 3.43 ล้านตัน ลดลง 26% จากปีก่อนที่นำเข้า 4.64 ล้านตัน 2) เอเชียนำเข้าจากไทย 2.2 ล้านตัน ลดลง 10% จากปีก่อนที่นำเข้า 2.47 ล้านตัน 3) ตะวันออก กลางนำเข้า 1.2 ล้านตัน ลดลง 11% จาก ปีก่อน 1.35 ล้านตัน 4) ยุโรปนำเข้า 8.5 แสนตัน เพิ่มขึ้น 7% จากปีก่อนที่นำเข้า 7.9 แสนตัน 5) อเมริกานำเข้า 6 แสนตัน เพิ่มขึ้น 8% จากปีก่อนนำเข้า 5.5 แสนตัน 6) โอเชียเนียนำเข้า 2.2 แสนตัน เพิ่มขึ้น 11% จากปีก่อนที่นำเข้า 2 แสนตัน ที่มา ประชาชาติธุรกิจ มีนาคม 2552

พาณิชย์รุกจัด"ไทยแลนด์ไรซ์" ลุ้นส่งออกข้าวทะลุ 9.6 ล้านตัน
นางอภิรดี ตันตราภรณ์ อธิบดีกรมการค้าต่างประเทศ เปิดเผยว่า กรมได้กำหนดจัดการประชุม Thailand Rice Convention 2009 ขึ้นในวันที่ 13-14 กรกฎาคม 2552 โดยภายในงานนี้ไทยมีแผนจะเชิญผู้แทน การค้าภาครัฐ เจ้าหน้าที่หน่วยงานจัดซื้อข้าวของรัฐบาลหรือหน่วยงานที่กำกับดูแลการนำเข้าของประเทศต่างๆ ได้แก่ บรูไน อินโดนีเซีย มาเลเซีย สิงคโปร์ ฟิลิปปินส์ จีน กานา มาดากัสการ์ ไนจีเรีย เซเนกัล และ โกตดิวัวร์ ประเทศผู้ผลิตและส่งออก ได้แก่ เวียดนาม อินเดีย ปากีสถาน กัมพูชา ลาว และพม่า รวมไปถึงผู้นำเข้า ผู้ประกอบการค้าข้าว นักวิชาการ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการผลิตและนำเข้าข้าว และสื่อมวลชนทั้งในและ ต่างประเทศ รวมแล้วประมาณ 500 คนมาร่วมงาน
การจัดการประชุม Thailand Rice Convention 2009
กระทรวงพาณิชย์โดยกรมการค้าต่างประเทศร่วมกับกระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์และสมาคมผู้ส่งออกข้าวไทยได้จัดการประชุม Thailand Rice Convention มาแล้วรวม 3 ครั้ง ครั้งที่ 1 ปี 2544 ครั้งที่ 2 ปี 2547 และครั้งที่ 3 ปี 2550 โดยการประชุมดังกล่าวมีกำหนดจัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุก 2 ปี
